Caper

Caper is best known for the edible flower buds (capers), often used as a seasoning, and the fruit (caper berries), both of which are usually consumed pickled. Intense flavour, sometimes described as being similar to black pepper or mustard, is developed as mustard oil is released from each caper bud.
The caper bush is a rupicolous species growing in the Mediterranean area. Capers are diuretic, kidney disinfectants, stimulant and aphrodisiac. They are rich in protein, vitamins, calcium, manganese, iron, magnesium and copper.
